Part two from the multi-disk group project adapting an English translation of the German 1919 novel, _Demian_, by Herman Hesse, to an avant-garde, post-industrial "imaginary-music-cinema". This disk features the collaboration between Portland music-artist Demian Rufus, and San Francisco dark-folk artist, Kris Force [Amber Asylum]. This second part of the _Demian Performative Becoming_ series is Kris Force performing as Frau Eva, [Eve the Goddess Mother] character of Max Demian in the novel. Demian excerpted all of the esoteric, deep yet brief, spoken dialogue of the Frau Eva character, and gave those to Kris as the lyrics to 8 different songs to form a song cycle called "Frau Eva Songs". Demian Rufus sampled and looped the piano parts from a recorded performance of Schubert's last song cycle ['lieder'], _Winterreise_. Then gave them to Kris Force. They both came up with parts for an acoustic 'neoclassical' and dark-folk instrument background for the text adaptation. Sept 2007, Demian traveled to Kris Force's beach house in Pacifica, and she recorded him playing her acoustic upright piano. He played by ear/improvised his piano parts in the forms of a sort of expressionistically-figurative, murky, subdued, ghostly "Tracing" live over the Schubert samples/loops. Then all the rest was left to Kris where she beautifully adapted the text to other-worldy vocal layers, string instruments, and even some reverbed-effects/psychedelic folk-rock instrumentations/arrangements. The end result are mixes beyond moving, emotive, expressive, dark and mysterious, 'a classic', an optimal setting for a haunting, escapist, performative becoming for Frau Eva and Demian. Re-mastered in 2013 for Demian Label & Distro!, this cdr comes in a yellow dvd case with insert of the Frau Eva dialogue-texts. $10 usd from Portland, OR.
