Notes

Full title: "Ministry Presents - The General S'election".

The worlds first album created by the people for the dancefloor.
The finest club tracks from 1990 to 2002 on a double CD.
Over the last 6 month, 3 million clubbers across the UK voted for their favourite Tracks of all time in the world's most in depth dance music survey ever ... this album is the result.

This is one of the few places where you can find the full length, unedited Monster Mix of Faithless's God Is A DJ on CD.
  • The only album I have ever bought and returned twice. "Compiled by the people" was the concept - a tracklist decided by clubbers via an internet vote, with the promise of every voters name included inside the booklet. Originally I returned this CD after finding neither mine or my friend's name were present, with vague memories of also being disappointed with the musical content.Cut to the present and I find the same album in a £1 store. Usually any classic-era ministry album is worth £1 of anyone's money, but clearly I had blocked the memories of just how bad this album is. This really is the most poorly mixed album I've ever heard. I would say that it sounds like they got the work experience kid to compile it, but I would expect the average work experience kid at ministry could have demonstrated a better mixing ability. Sure, it's beatmatched (of course, it's done on a computer) but there's no sense of timing, harmony, energy or flow. Records fade in/out while vocals are still playing. You get jarring, out-of sync transitions between radio edits then suddenly a full length 7 minute track is allowed to play out almost to the last few kickdrums. If you've ever wondered what PPK's 'Resurection' sounds like pitched down by 8% here's your chance to find out, 'Addicted To Bass' is then apologetically tacked on completely unmixed.I returned it a second time mainly due to CD2 being missing completely from the case, but with my memory jogged I remember it being almost as bad. Mixed in a way that did not make it DJ-friendly, but not mixed enough to give you any great listening pleasure. If you're thinking that it sounds bad enough to be worth a listen, my advice is not to put yourself through it!
